Internships are work-based activities in which students engage in learning through practical and relevant experiences at various internship sites. Internships are undertaken by students who are at or near the end of a preparatory academic program. These structured experiences involve the practical application of previously studied theory through course work. Internships are targeted to the students’ meaningful future plans and allow students to explore careers that require additional degrees, certification, or training.
Effective internships provide interns with the opportunities to develop an understanding of the career area duties and responsibilities, terminology, climate, protocol, and other information that will enable interns to analyze and revise their meaningful future plans. There must be agreements, understandings, instruction, and orientation for all participants’ coordination by the university with the establishments and either of the Dean or Department Chair an evaluation of each intern’s experience and program analysis is being conducted right after the practical training of the interns for future program improvements.
The Internship Office (INTO)is the one responsible in seeking reputable and best partner- industries for the student-interns of Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas to undergo their practical training in all kind of specialization and expertise aligned their respective curriculum. The Internship Office (formerly Industry Linkage Office) was established on June 2010 to facilitate the development of harmonious relationships between the university and partners from different sectors to become host for students’ internship. These linkages crystallize the role of the institution of higher education in sharing its knowledge and resources to the wider community. The Internship Office also acts as a dynamic link unit in order to identify opportunities to develop skills, talents and capabilities as well as personal and professional growth of the students.
